After seven busy days cruising the Mediterranean, we landed in Rome for a short but memorable stay at The Rome EDITION. This visit was extra special because Linsey’s parents and Robbie’s aunts joined us, experiencing the EDITION brand for the first time.

Rome itself is incredible—every street feels like part of a museum, and even the most unassuming buildings are steeped in history. The EDITION, housed in a former bank building, fits right into this setting, combining historic charm with modern convenience. The lobby is striking: located at the base of a tiered staircase and surrounded by lush greenery. High ceilings, green velvet curtains, and the signature EDITION pool table set the tone for what was to come.

Our room wasn’t quite ready when we arrived, so the team set us up in a spa treatment room—formerly part of the bank vault—to freshen up and store our bags. With time to spare, we headed up to the rooftop. The rooftop area is intimate but well-designed, featuring a small pool, a chic bar, and views over the city. It was the perfect spot to relax and cool off in the 90°F (30°C) summer heat.

When our room was ready, a generous upgrade to the  Premier City Skyline Suite—a beautifully crafted space with dark wood finishes, arched windows overlooking the city, and thoughtful details that made it feel cozy and luxurious. To welcome us, the team had left champagne and a miniature chocolate Colosseum, a gesture that felt perfectly with the location. Then came the highlight: a custom illustration of our family in ancient Roman attire, standing in front of the Colosseum. It was a personal and unexpected touch that left a lasting impression. Thank you Leo and your wonderful friend for the art.

We ventured out for a quick tour of the Vatican before meeting up with our family on the rooftop for some cocktails and a special experience! The team had arranged for the bartender to do a quick masterclass on the mixing of a Negroni and cocktails for the whole family. We completed the Edition Passport signing and headed down for dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. The food was excellent, and the evening gave us the chance to catch up, share stories, and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.

The next morning, we had breakfast on the outdoor terrace, which was a relaxing way to start the day. From the food to the setting, everything felt thoughtfully designed. Then it was time to pack up and head to the train station for our next destination.

The Rome EDITION delivered a seamless experience, blending its unique design with the timeless character of the city. It’s ideally located, making it a perfect base for exploring Rome, even for just one night. From the exceptional service to the small but meaningful details, this stay set a high bar for the rest of our travels.
