We arrived in Dubai in the evening, driving into a city that seemed to glow from within. Towering skyscrapers, endless lights, and the Burj Khalifa standing watch over it all—it was a striking contrast to the vast desert we had just come from.

Our stay for the night was The Dubai Edition, nestled near the base of the Burj Khalifa. It felt like an oasis in the middle of the city’s architectural spectacle. The moment we stepped into the lobby, we were greeted by the signature Edition greenery, a welcome touch of warmth and calm against the modern surroundings. The staircase, stretching three floors above us, was a statement piece in itself, while the chandelier above the grand lobby restaurant added an understated elegance. The restaurant’s window looked, inspired by traditional mosque frames, was a beautiful nod to the region’s history, seamlessly blended into a modern setting.

After a smooth check-in, we were shown to our room—a lovely upgrade with a balcony. The evening air was warm but comfortable, and we sat outside watching the lights of the city, the hum of Dubai’s energy. Later, we made our way to the bar and pool area, where the view of the Burj Khalifa was even more breathtaking. Sitting there with a drink, taking in the skyline, we could really appreciate how seamlessly Dubai merges its historic influences with a futuristic cityscape. We lingered over small plates and conversation, letting the atmosphere sink in before calling it a night.

The next morning, we had breakfast on the lobby terrace, enjoying perfectly made avocado toast and pancakes while soaking in the quiet before the city fully woke up. We passed the time playing a game of chess, waiting for the GM and team to finalize the official signing. With business wrapped up, we spent the afternoon exploring The Dubai Mall, an experience in itself. After lunch with a friend, we tried the famous “Dubai chocolate”—rich, indulgent, and worth every bite. It was a short visit, but even in that time, Dubai’s balance of history and innovation was easy to admire.

By late afternoon, it was time to pack up and head to our next stop—The Abu Dhabi Edition, just an hour and a half away. While our time in Dubai was brief, it was exactly what we needed: a glimpse into a city that never stops evolving, with just the right amount of relaxation in between.
