Terraced Paradise

A sunny July day, the Aegean Sea shimmering in the distance, and us arriving at the Bodrum EDITION ready to live our best vacation lives. From the moment we stepped onto the property, it was clear—this wasn’t just a hotel stay; it was an experience.

The check-in team greeted us like long-lost friends (who also happen to be incredibly kind and efficient). After a warm welcome, they whisked us out to the stunning outdoor veranda for our first taste of those jaw-dropping views. Then came a golf cart ride to our stunning suite. And when I say “stunning” I mean a living area, bedroom, and veranda porch all overlooking the Aegean in a perfect set up that felt like it was designed just for us. Think white furniture, local art, and natural wood accents—a Pinterest dream board brought to life. As if that wasn’t enough, the team surprised us with a tray of perfect pastries, crackers, and a Turkish tomato dip that should honestly have its own fan club. Our room keys were custom-painted with a map of the world, highlighting our Edition hotel stops so far (the personalization game here is strong). They also had an artist paint a sailboat and our Edition Passport on the label of a delicious bottle of wine.

After soaking in our suite’s beauty, we made our way to the beach club. The property is terraced, which means getting to the beach involves a few stairs—or as I like to call it, “earning your margarita.” Once there, the calm water and soft sand were the perfect backdrop for sipping said margarita and sneaking in a quick nap. Later, we hit the gym (yes, we worked out on vacation—who are we?), and then got dressed up for dinner at Brava, their new Italian spot. The food? Fabulous. The cocktail menu? Presented as a children’s book about Pinocchio, with drinks named after his adventures. Yes, it was as whimsical and delightful as it sounds. We ended the day watching the sunset from our veranda, officially in vacation bliss.

The next morning, we experienced what might be the most delicious breakfast of our lives. The Turkish truly get breakfast. Honey and cheese, fresh bread, flaky pastries, eggs cooked to perfection.

Our day was spent soaking up the sun by the pool, splashing around in the water, and making new friends (who, funnily enough, were also from America). We ventured into town to explore the marina and do some shopping before heading back for dinner at The Kitchen. Thinking it was the “normal hotel restaurant,” we were in for a surprise—it’s actually a Michelin-starred gem. Five courses later, we were stuffed and happy.

Our final morning came too soon, with another incredible breakfast to send us off. As we prepared to leave, the staff sprinkled water behind our car—a Turkish tradition to thank guests and wish them safe travels. It was a sweet, thoughtful end to a perfect stay.
