The Miami Beach EDITION

A MIX OF PRESENT AND PAST

It's a scorching Miami summer day. We roll up to The Miami EDITION and at first I question, “Are we at the right hotel?” Right there on the side of the building is the historic Seville hotel sign. It felt like we'd stumbled onto a movie set or something.

We step inside, and the lobby jungle gives that familiar tropical warmth we love about EDITION.  There are cozy nooks to chill and chat, and it's basically a getaway within a getaway.

Hungry from our travels, we hit the casual dining spot for lunch while we wait for our room to be all set.  Shortly after our friend Jaime Ye, also a Marriott Ambassador and our amazing friend Shannon from back home in Asia join us. Lunchtime storytelling begins.

We shared the story about our passport challenge to our server Allison and next thing you know, she's arranged for the GM to set up a passport signing ceremony right after lunch.

Chris and John, the dynamic duo, show up and we had a great time sharing our tales and getting to know them better. Passport location number two is officially stamped, sealed, and signed.

Post-lunch, we head up to our room and kick back on the balcony, soaking up the evening vibes. Chris and John, being the classy gents they are, invite us to dine at the iconic Matador restaurant, a place that once hosted Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack.   Andreas, the host, suggests we grab a table on the terrace since it's a lovely night. The view? Poolside perfection. Tacos, cocktails, and dessert make the night a culinary delight. Just when we're wrapping up, Wendy swings by to treat us to a nightcap at the bar – we promptly nickname her Wendy-Love because she's just that awesome.

Before calling it a night, we cross paths with another server, Vita, who was so personable and you can just tell her job brings her so much joy.

Our evening ended at the Matador bar for a few cocktails made by the stellar mixologist Florina.   She like many other EDITION staff shared how much she loves the brand and the opportunity it affords her to travel and see the world.

After a blissful night's sleep, we grab a quick breakfast and pop into the lobby store. We're there to swap a few EDITION shirts gifted to us by Chris, John, and Allison. Laura, who runs the shop, impresses us with her keen eye for EDITION-adjacent items that go beyond the usual hotel shop fare.  Local artist and craftsmen’s creations lined the shelf for a truly unique shopping experience.

With just a few hours left to soak it all in, we head to the pool, rain be darned. We float around, admiring the historic diving board, the bar area, and the bungalow rooms. Rumor has it there's a bowling alley and an ice skating rink in the basement, so we make our way downstairs to investigate. Normally, they're not open until 5 pm, but they decide to let us roll a few frames. Let's just say our bowling skills are a work in progress – but it sure made for a memorable time. Ice skating? That's on the to-do list for next time.

As we head back upstairs to pack our bags and catch our flight, we can't help but smile. Miami, you've got this knack for blending history, mystery, top-notch service, and style like no other. Thanks Miami EDITION for the unforgettable memories!

The Miami Beach EDITION elements

our room

We booked a suite and enjoyed seeing the unique details of this EDITION as compared with other properties. Most notably the dark wood accents and the gold fixtures (in most other properties the wood is light and fixtures black. Views faced the hockey stadium and the iconic staircase, pool table and jungle of plants filled the grand lobby.
