The Madrid EDITION
Modern History
Another evening arrival to The Madrid EDITION was welcomed with an awesome front desk staff that knew us by name and Anna whisked us upstairs to yet another unexpected upgrade that elevated our accommodation to an incredible space. The room not only offered comfort but also a unique aesthetic encapsulated in history that captured the essence of Madrid.
Our view of the "Barefoot Sisters" convent was contemplative, providing a serene backdrop that added to the charm of our stay. The dark wood accents against the white walls created a sophisticated contrast, setting a refined tone for the room.
One standout feature was the distinctive Sherpa upholstered furniture, bringing warmth against an otherwise modern clean aesthetic. The clear swirled marble light fixture added an artistic element, casting a gentle glow that enhanced the room's ambiance. We were Initially unsure about the local design influence of the more ornate headboard, but in person discovered that it seamlessly complemented the overall design of the hotel and our room. Anna and team did such a great job having little sweets prepared for our kids (don’t worry we took them back for them!)
Michel the GM met us in our room and we chatted quickly about a time to meet for the passport signing and then headed upstairs to Oroya the onsite Peruvian restaurant. Oh. My. Goodness. the meal was incredible. The ceviche was melt in your mouth and paired with the Pisco sour was perfection. The grouper and short rib was a flavor party and the dessert a perfect ending.
The next morning we headed down to Geronimo the Mexican themed restaurant where breakfast was served. Enchiladas for breakfast? yes please! After breakfast we did a quick tour of the hotel and got to take a peek at the crazy two story penthouse apartment complete with private pool. They were performing some maintenance on the outdoor space so we didn’t get our usual video of this room. But if you’ve got 20k per night this room will not disappoint! We headed back down and met Anna and Michel for the official signing! They then gathered representatives from every department and we headed to the most impressive signature staircase we have seen yet for a group photo.. After they opened up the onsite store named “Limited Edition” and we looked around at art and gifts curated by local artists.
Sadly again our stay was short so we had to pack up and head to the airport. Our time at The Madrid EDITION Hotel not only offered comfort and convenience but also a thoughtful blend of design elements that celebrated the city's culture. It was a stay marked by unexpected delights and a room that felt like a sanctuary within the vibrant heart of Madrid.
