We arrived at The Barcelona EDITION late in the evening and to our surprised were recognized at the door by Francesc and Irene. Their excitement was as palpable as ours as they eagerly awaited hearing about our EDITION journey so far. After a quick check in they proceeded to take us up to our room. Not only was the room and incredible upgrade to the Santa Caterina Penthouse but from the moment we entered, the room was filled with thoughtful touches.
Personalized notes from each hotel department from food and beverage to housekeeping adorned the space, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The ambiance was enhanced by the presence of a carefully selected red wine, inviting us to savor the flavors of Barcelona in the comfort of our incredible room. It felt like Christmas morning!
A highlight of our experience was the exclusive one-of-one Gold Edition card that the customer experience team made for us as special token for our EDITION passport journey.
The suite boasted a massive wrap-around terrace, reminiscent of the breathtaking views we once enjoyed at the Shanghai EDITION Room 2602. The terrace became our private oasis, offering panoramic vistas of Barcelona's skyline and creating a perfect setting for relaxation. Inside, the penthouse was designed for both comfort and functionality. A well-stocked kitchen and a stylish dining table allowed us to enjoy meals at our own pace. The convenience of two bathrooms ensured a seamless and indulgent experience.
Adding a touch of sophistication, a rolling cocktail cart awaited us, ready to craft delightful concoctions. The option of a connecting room provided flexibility if our kids had joined us (but this trip was just for the grown ups :)
We had to take a peek at the punch room before we called it a night so we climbed up the signature spiral staircase and made our way to the speakeasy style bar. Mary the bartender welcomed us and we shared stories while she made us some fantastic cocktails. With the pool table in use we decided to head back to our room for the night.
The next morning we wandered down to breakfast to enjoy an a la carte meal with both traditional and special Spanish dishes. With our bellies full we eagerly awaited the set meeting with Brunella the GM to officially sign our passports. We met in the lobby and had a wonderful time getting to know her story and her recent journey to the EDITION and before we knew it her whole team was there to thank us and to take a photo with us! With only a few hours left to see the city Akmed met us as the door with directions to the Christmas market and an amazing food market where we had some fantastic lunch and bought some dried chorizo to take home for Christmas Eve……the shop keeper assured us we could bring it through customs…..yeah, he was incorrect.
With our hearts full of Christmas Cheer and hospitality we packed our bags and sadly checked out of this amazing place. In every aspect, from the lavish penthouse upgrade to the personalized details and remarkable amenities, The Barcelona EDITION Hotel left an indelible mark on our travel experience, making it a truly unforgettable stay.

Francesc- a round of applause for you sir. I don’t think we have ever felt so loved and considered before. I am usually the one arranging the hospitality at our home and you out hospital-ited me! Wow, we noticed every touch you and your team arranged and we can’t thank you enough for your pure joy and consideration.
Michael- you are you team are truly exceptional! It was wonderful to be taken care of by a team that not only cares for the guests but for each other. Really amazing.
Irene - You are gold. Your excitement and joy made us smile all the way to our room after check in! You truly made an impression and we hope you get to travel around to all the EDITIONS someday and tell us all about it!
Mary- It was so wonderful to meet you and have you make us our evening cocktails. It was really great to hear your story and to watch you handle your job with class and professionalism even when you have cranky guests ;). You are wonderful and we enjoyed meeting you!
Akmed- Thanks for all the advice and for always remembering our names! I wish I had that superpower! Can’t wait to visit again and we can talk best places to visit in Egypt!
Brunella -Can you hear the applause while you read this? Your team went above and beyond to make us feel so incredibly loved. It was so great to meet you and hear your story! You are such a warm person and you can tell by the closeness of your team that they all really enjoy the family you have created. We can’t wait to come back and we promise we will bring the kids this time :)
